On August 7, 2026, X replaced its Revenue Sharing programme with the newly launched Original Content Rewards Program.

As per the News Websites, X has updated its monetisation system by replacing the existing Revenue Sharing programme with the new Original Content Rewards Program.  In the new system, original posts and impressions from premium members will be important for X creator payouts.

This modification is crucial for X creator payouts since the creators will have to change their strategies in order to maintain their eligibility through this new method.  This would be especially useful for those creators who incorporate X into their business.

X changes its creator payout program

X announced that it would stop accepting applications for its Revenue Sharing program from August 7, 2026, but the existing members will receive their payments till September 7.

Starting from September 8, creators who are eligible can apply to the new Original Content Rewards Program that will pay them twice weekly according to their qualified impressions from Premium users.

Original content and eligibility take center stage

X will prioritise original posts that reflect the creator’s own voice, perspective, or expertise. The duplicated or slightly altered posts do not fit the criteria. Applicants should be above the age of 18, reside in an eligible nation, hold an eligible Premium membership, and have at least 500,000 verified-user views during the last 90 days.

What does the change mean for Indian creators?

India is among the countries where X’s Original Content Rewards Program is available. This makes the change directly relevant to Indian creators. The creators must fulfill certain requirements based on subscriptions, followers, and impressions. The minimum pay is set at $30. The platform prohibits artificial engagement and certain undisclosed AI-generated content.
